Itikaf 2016 gets underway

Braving extremely hot, inhospitable and muggy weather, thousands of people started their Itikaf at Township Lahore in the company of Shaykh-ul-Islam on Sunday evening. The religious fervor of the residents of Itikaf City was worth seeing. This is the second largest itikaf gathering after the one held at Two Holy Mosques in which people from across the country and abroad participate and dedicate themselves to worship and remembrance of their Lord.

The management of the Itikaf City has made extraordinary arrangements for facilitation of the faithful in view of the harsh and extreme weather. Heavy duty generators have been installed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity. In addition, mineral water plants and ACs have also been installed to give relief to the residents of the Itikaf City from the weather.

The arrangements for Itikaf of women have been made in the Minhaj Women College building where hundreds of women have joined the Itikaf. Similar facilities have been provided for the women as well.

Stringent security arrangements have been made on the occasion wherein the hundreds of members of MYL and MSM are performing the security responsibilities. CCTV cameras have been fixed inside the venue for round the clock monitoring. Walk-through gates have been placed for entry into and exit from the venue.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri will deliver his keynote addresses on scholarly, moral and spiritual subjects during the ten days of Itikaf after Traveh prayers. His speeches will be covered live on minhaj.tv.
