Thousands of the faithful set to start their Itikaf today

Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has said that the effort to revive the weakening relationship with our Lord is Itikaf. He said that people renounce their worldly engagements during Itikaf and dedicate themselves wholly to win Allah’s pleasure during the last ten days of Ramazan. He said that the Holy Prophet (SAW) would do Itikaf during the last days of the holy month all his life.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri made these remarks while reviewing the residential and food arrangements for the residents of Itikaf City during his visit to the venue in Township yesterday. Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Noorullah Siddiqi, Jawad Hamid, Qaiz Faiz-ul-Islam and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Briefing the Chairman of the Supreme Council about arrangements, Jawad Hamid, the Secretary of Itikaf 2019, said that the thousands of people from different districts and regions of Pakistan in Punjab, KP, Sindh, Balochistan, GB and AJ&K registered themselves for Itikaf this year. He said that a large number of women will join the Itikaf City as well for whom separate arrangements have been made. He said that all arrangements have been finalised for Itikaf aimed at facilitating the residents to make most of their ten-day spiritual retreat. The scholars of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council, Directorate of Dawah and Training and COSIS will deliver their talks on various aspects of Islam during these ten days. Spiritual Quranic recitation, Zikr and Naat gatherings will be held every night. He said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri will make his keynote speech every night at 11:30 pm from the UK through video link.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri directed the administration of the Itikaf City that no effort should be spared in facilitating the faithful so that they can focus on their worship uninterruptedly. He said that alternate arrangements for the non-stop provision of power should be made, adding that security is of paramount importance and no one should be allowed entry without registration and thorough body research. He directed all the office bearers to extend cooperation to the security officials.
