In his special address on the 9th day of Itikaf, MQI founding-leader and patron-in-chief Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said if the people want to attain nearness of Allah Almighty, then they should stop following the diktat of ill-commanding self. He said the domination of carnal desires makes one estranged from the performance of good deeds. He said the disobedient are in fact unwise, adding that the lack of knowledge about what is useful and what is a net loss is an instance of being unwise.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said the question is not how much Allah is close to us; rather the question to ponder is how much are we close to Him? He said that as long as we continue to remain under the influence of the ill-commanding self and let it shape our default behavior, we will stay away from winning over the pleasure of Allah in our lives.
Shaykh-ul-Islam said that there is a great nexus between Satan and the ill-commanding self. He said Satan had claimed that he would attack the believers through their ill-commanding self and one of the major weapons in his arsenal is to make one ungrateful. He said the heart is a place of seclusion of man. He said that Allah Almighty eyes the place to see if He lives in the heart of the people or there is someone else. He referred to a Hadith wherein the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said that the actions are based on intentions, stating that we need to start the reform process by working on our intention.
The prominent personalities who attended the address included Justice (r) Nazir Ahmad Ghazi, Mian Jalil Sharqpuri, Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi, and Kashif Salman, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
